Frequently Asked Web Design Questions
Web Site Content - What Do I Put On My Site? That would
depend on the goals of your web site. If you run a business website
you would include as much information about your products or services
that your customers would need to purchase from you. Keep in mind-search
engines love content, so the more you can say the better. Include
your keywords and key phrases throughout, especially near the
top.
Can I see the website while it is being made? Yes. I will
provide you with a private web address where you can watch the
progress of your website as it's being built and let me know if
there are changes you'd like.
Can I update my website myself? Yes you can, as long as
you have knowledge of html and have an FTP program. Please note
that if you opt for any form of self-management, this is entirely
at your own risk.
How long does it take to have a web site designed? The
time frame is determined by the size of your web site, the complexity
of your site design, and my current client design schedule. It
will also depend on how long it takes for you to get needed material
to me.
Do I submit your website to the search engines every month?
No. Once your website is listed in the search engines, there's
really no need to submit the site again - unless you've been banned
for whatever reason, then you would want to fix whatever it was
that got you banned and submit again. Submitting your website
over and over to the search engines will not help, and could actually
hurt your rankings.
Who owns the copyright to my website? You own it, however,
I retain the right to use an image of your web site on any part
of this web site (Portfolio page)
as a representation of my work, as well as a live link to your
web site. Both of these conditions work to your advantage, as
it will help the search engines find your web site.
What is "Web Maintenance/Management" ? Maintenance
is a fee paid to keep your site updated with new content which
you provide. Most good web sites have new content updated regularly.
Fresh content is what will keep your visitors coming back.
I have hard copy photos or digital images to send to you.
Hard copies (images that you send me via postal mail) will
be scanned and uploaded and then optimized. Original photos sent
via postal mail will be returned to you. If sending images via
email, please send them in .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, or .bmp format.
